i think the best choice is a cheap used pc or laptop, or server. Reduces electric waste. I also host my own server on a 19 year old Dell Insprion 1300

ah yes, grub NEVER works. it is overly complicated and much harder to set up than it should be. You can try alternatives though, like refind, limine, lilo, clover

no arch support, why? arch is a major distro

gentoo is only cool about wasting your time, like any other source based distro. if you ever need, you can manually compile anything, the os shouldn’t force you to do it
