My dad became mayor in 2016. I used to believe that people who choose to become politicians just don’t have a good moral character to begin with, but if someone ethical (like my dad) chose to become one they’d stay ethical. Well, now I don’t believe that anymore since even my dad amassed a fortune far beyond the monthly salary he’s getting from the state. Ironically enough he’s very popular with the people, their main saying being: a furat, dar a și făcut (he stole, but he also got things done).

Yeah, a LOT of people will technically be a “millionaire” by the time they are his age, when you consider property and investments. Hell, most engineers, doctors, lawyers, and such will also have about the same level of net worth, if not more.

I will point out that Governor Walz is also an example of a politician who clearly didn’t enrich his bank account during his time in office (although there’s plenty of things to criticize him for, that’s not one of them), but yeah I think Walz is largely done on the national stage, he’s also not corrupt enough to run for president.
