Hacking and distributing pirated software is not limited to good people with good ethics who are doing it because they want the world to be a better place.

Arguably, a lot of those people just think the rules don’t apply to them. Arguably a lot of the ethos of piracy related to “using technology to route around bad legislation” has become the techbro mantra of “use technology to route around any and all legislation that prevents me from ripping people off to make money.”
