The FOIA request was for records related to the FBI’s purchase of multiple hacking tools for $250,000 from anti-child abuse charity The Innocent Lives Foundation. This purchase was initially included in a public U.S. government database that lists what agencies are buying. After I reported on that purchase, the listing was removed from the database.

There will be a lot of this sort of shenanigans over the next four years.

    WTF. At least fucking say “whoops, this is classified”. Cause now it looks like you’re just giving money to politically connected groups…….

        Yes. But then a journalist can follow through and say “these programmers suck at their job or are spending too much money compared to regular industry rates”. And then the gov can handwave it away saying it’s within standard deviation for programmer compensation.

        It’s a system with corruption vs a corrupt system.
