The Reddit-inspired instances like the Mbin and Lemmy-based ones may be of interest for you. The Lemmy ones, from what I can tell, always hide the follower list, and the Mbin ones allow the user to choose between showing and not showing. Also, both seem to be able to connect to Twitter-like instances, though UI for that part in the Mbin ones is pretty barebones and the Lemmy ones mix them up.

I can conjecture some things, though I can’t be 100% sure on either:

First, maybe it’s fanatics/fanboys that don’t like competition making their platform less relevant. Second, it’s paid actors complaining. Third, it’s robot accounts making posts. Fourth, as proposed in the OP, people are getting the wrong impression due to noisy and problematic bubbles. Fifth, people being scared of leaving their comfort zone. Sixth, a mix of either some or all the previous possibilities.

Putting the tone aside, I usually browse the All tab for that reason, and also because subscribing in Lemmy is weirder than it was on Kbin (even if it doesn’t crash the page like Kbin did). Nothing personal against the communities, and sure, it’s an exercise on patience, but after some time, the results become noticeable as my feed gets fine-tuned into what I want to see.

If you are indeed autistic and it is a problem in your daily life, knowing what is the problem is the first step to dealing with it, I think. You could even find strategies to turn hindering aspects of the condition into strengths, by knowing where your issues may stem from. And on the bureaucratic part of diagnosis, sadly I can’t comment as I don’t have much experience with that part.

Having disciplined myself to break such downward spiral cycles helped. That is, if I feel stagnant, I force myself to do something, anything else. Maybe it could help you too?

Look for games that are sold DRM free. Those can’t be taken from you by devs or the store after backed up. And usually devs and/or stores that deliberately sell such games also make it clear people can keep their games.

From the instances I used, it seems to be a mixed bag. Some even allowed for the user to block domains unrelated to the fediverse.

When I noticed meds weren’t being beneficial anymore for me, I stopped taking them and started trying to spot where my focus-related issues were and how I could change them. It hasn’t been a smooth sail and requires a lot of discipline, but so far that helped me more than any medications.

So, you had asked about materials to study in a previous comment. While I found no concrete materials yet, maybe looking for questions related to proficiency level tests could be a good start? Like for example in my case, to study materials oriented at norskprøve (for Norwegian), JLPT (for Japanese), or to practice since I don’t get many chances to speak in Spanish, SIELE’s test.

Remedies don’t do anything for me, so instead, I try to change my behaviors and mindset. It’s hard since it’s a tug of war against myself, but I think I am getting better. And as the saying goes, to solve a problem, first the person needs to know he/she has a problem, so I try to keep an eye for potential issues I may have.

On breaking down lyrics, reminds me of the English version of Sabaton’s “1648” song. During the song’s bridge, it seems to me that the singing becomes strangely deep for something sang in English, but since the main singer is a half Swede/Czech, a Czech name is used in that bridge, and the singer said he some times confuses the English and Swedish lyrics for that album, maybe that’s why.
