Conservative commentators criticized the portrayal as outdated and offensive, calling it an unfair caricature of Trump voters.
Who cares? Time to stop giving a crap about racists and biggots feelings. What a bunch of snowflakes.

Most services are forced to carry DRM only versions of Ebooks by the book publishers. But there are ways of legally removing the DRM - it’s a faff but doable. I buy epubs and don’t use Kindle (haven’t for a long time) as it’s much harder to remove the DRM and actually own your books.
But way I look at it - if I bought the Kindle version of a book, I can just download a DRM free version by sailing the seas. Fuck Amazon.
So Bird Flu is coming for humans. The conditions for it moving into humans are perfect in the US: it’s spreading rapidly through commerical herds and flocks, with minimal attempts to restrict it due to prioritising public health over money. The more animals it is incubated in and the more contact they have with humans the higher the chances a mutation will successfully jump species.
We have a US President who has already presided over a chaotic and poor pandemic response. Now he is back, and he’s withdrawn the US from the World Health Organization, is letting a moronic billionaire disrupt the CDC, and has now appointed a conspiracy theory loving anti-vaxxer.
The conditions are already perfect for a flu pandemic, and now the conditions in the US are rapidly heading towards perfect conditions for a devastating pandemic. And it will affect the whole world as a poorly controlled initial out break will lead to rapid global spread. The only hope left is that a mild version of the Bird Flu mutates into humans, rather than the deadly version we’ve seen devastating birds and that has caused high mortality in previous small human outbreaks.
Yes: Five has four letters. Nine has four letters.
There are no more.
If you meant to ask if there are any more whole numbers with the same number of letters in the name as the number, then the answer is no. It is fairly simple to check - you only have to look at the numbers 0-30 before it becomes clear no other number will fit this pattern.
If you went into fractions like 20.12325 then there will be many numbers where all the letters added would get close but the fraction itself would mean you couldn’t quite reach the exact number as you can’t have fractions of letters.
If you included negative numbers then “minus eleven” has 11 letters. Minus thirteen has 13 letters. It seems to again break down once you go beyond 13, and its dodgy to include negative numbers as you can’t have negative letters.
So, no.
The Bird flu pandemic is coming; withdrawing from WHO is not going to be good for the US and now Argentinian responses.
The lack of effective controls on the spread of bird flu in the American agricultural industry (even pre trump, due to strong vested financial interests in american farming overriding public health concerns) make the US a very strong contender for being where the disease finally moves in to humans.
Trump Flu? Pandemics seem to he a feature of his presidencies.
Being “nice” is not a policy for the UK to follow. It might be lucky to avoid some of the tariffs targetting the EU but when he wants something from the UK he will use the tariff threat.
The UK is far better off trying to improve relations with the EU and liberalise trade as much as can be achieved without reigniting the brexit debate. That might not be much.
Stop showing off your immense wealth.
Yeah but if you had to search for it you’d have a trouble spelling it. Flowmarked would be how English speakers would hear that I think.
It probably needs an English brand name for outside the germano-sphere - fedimarket?
Bird Flu is coming - Trump is the president of pandemics, and whose betting he will handle this one any better than covid?
I wouldn’t worry, with Trump we’ll all soon be infected with bird flu instead. Trump Flu, alongside Trump Inflation and a Trump Drought in California.
The drought in summer 2025 will be Trumps Drought.
Alongside Trumps Inflation.
There is nothing other countries can really do about this except impose tariffs in kind. When american inflation goes up I hope Americans put stickers on gas pumps and more eating “Trump did this”
At this stage it will be challenged in the US courts as it is apparently unconstitutional and also illegal.
Supporting non-profits that use the legal system to hold the government to account is the way to go for now.
Also the scope of this remains unclear - it’s possible that it will blow up in Trump’s face when all the schemes that directly benefit voters disappear, including potentially medicaid. So everyone just needs to keep reminding people that “Trump did this” - make him own the shit that is coming.
I’m guessing it’s automated stupidity. Meta has cut staff and we’re seeing the results.
Much of the big tech companies have done this over the past year or two, and also been pushing “AI” to replace roles like moderation. I think we’re seeing the results of over relying on AI and cutting staff to boost share prices.
Lets face it, Meta is dying; Facebook is declining, and Instagram seems to be in decline too, the pivot to VR failed and the pivot to AI will fail. It’s best chance seems to be trying to get its hands on TikTok in the US and even that is hardly going to drive the company forward.
I’d play videogames, depending how much use you have of the hand. If you can use a controller or a mouse without discomfort I’d game. You could complete a lengthy RPG like Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 or Baldurs Gate 3. Or you could learn and play Dwarf Fortress or try and get as far as possible in Stardew Valley or whatever games you like.
Id also go out and walk - explore your city, or go hiking if you have nature near by. Its free and it beats being cooped up in your house.
Or you could make a start on a new skill. Like coding with freecodecamp.org or start learning a language.
9 days is a luxury - I’d even enjoy just lazing about, catching up with friends and family. You dont have to do anything meaningful - you could have some me time.
I would say it is unlikely - storage is so cheap that some form of local storage is likely to stay.
A terminal device still needs some form of storage to run the software to access the cloud. That might end up being some small storage on a chip but the difference is not between none and something, but some and more.
I also think there are enough people who want storage they own and control that it’ll persist as a concept. Also having devices that work when networks are down is a benefit in itself - attempts to make devices dumb terminals get exposed as a productivity nightmare when networks do go out.
I think big business will certainly try hard to lock people in to their ecosystems. Remote storage, remote computing/graphics processing are all ways they will try. But conversely there are vibrant communities pushing independent & private alternatives that I don’t see dying - whether thats Linux on PCs, or Graphene OS to take control of your android device etc.
Well when you get Biden pardoning a judge who literally took bribes to send kids to jail to benefit a for profit jail, I’d question how compelling the Democrats are.
Instead of voting 3rd party and trying to change things, many Americans seems to be locked in a pointless argument over which party is the least shit.
During the election people aggressively shut down criticism of Biden and the Democrats, and that any 3rd party discussion was just a vote for Trump.
This was and remains a crock of shit. Both sides of the US two party system are corrupt and irredeemable. When you vote Democrat you endorse this shit as much as when someone votes Republican endorses their shit. Even if they’re the lesser evil, they’re still an evil.
90 million people didn’t vote in the US election. I don’t blame them when you see what the dems get up to. And in particular, fuck you Joe Biden.
As stable as that dime is, it’s utterly useless for all practical purposes.
What Google is talking about it making a stable qbit - the basic unit of a quantum computer. It’s extremely difficult to make a qbit stable - and as it underpins how a quantum computer would work instability introduces noise and errors into the calculations a quantum computer would make.
Stabilising a qbit in the way Google’s researchers have done shows that in principle if you scale up a quantum computer it will get more stable and accurate. It’s been a major aim in the development of quantum computing for some time.
Current quantum computers are small and error prone. The researchers have added another stepping stone on the way to useful quantum computers in the real world.
Well, Europe needs to grow a pair and tell Trump to fuck off. We need to accept that he is leaving Nato, and European countries need to take it over or set up a new organisation. He can make any deal he likes with Russia; Europe and Ukraine can just tell him no and show him the true limits of his power. He cannot dictate to Europe and he is not our president.
