Sorry it didn’t work out for you like Linux Mint works for me (I switched full time to LM in December 2024).
If you haven’t already, switch to Windows 10 LTSC in the interim. I have a feeling Linux will only improve over time with greater compatibility with Proton. Since Win 10 LTSC is supported until 2029, that’s plenty of time for for more kinks to be worked out and you can potentially try Linux again.
Sometimes when it’s quiet and I get a moment to sit, ponder, and allow myself to be bored, I’ll hear either The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time title theme song or, if I’m feeling energised, I’ll hear the opening theme for a new game start in Super Mario 64 (where Lakitu is flying around with the camera and Mario jumps out of the warp pipe).
Heck yeah. I’ve been going through a phase where I’m rotating listening to the NieR:Automata and Persona 5 Royal soundtracks.
Wow I never knew about this utility! I downloaded one for my smartphone and it’s extremely straightforward. You can even set up reminders so that it’ll notify you when you should spend 5 minutes calling your reps.
I’ll have to verify the scripts that I see, but it looks like it’s as simple as giving you the name of the rep, a script to read, a phone number to click so you can call them, and a logging utility so that you can just click the Next button and move on to the next rep. Makes it stupid easy to let your reps hear your voice and stance. Definitely going to try this out as I’ve been feeling so powerless and overwhelmed by the onslaught of these racists in power.

Why are you in the Nintendo community for console gamers commenting about emulation?
I have a PC that I built that runs Linux Mint. I have a Steam Deck. I can also emulate whatever game I want.
Some Nintendo fans just want to buy Nintendo things and enjoy the experience because they love the games. Let gamers enjoy games no matter how they want to play them.
I am also excited for this new console and will be watching it to see if it’s a good fit me in the future.

Taylor Swift is known very well for donating. She donates millions to food banks in every city she’s toured. She also donates on a lot of those gofundme fundraisers, one in which particular really moved her and she penned the song “Ronan”. An incredibly sad and tragic song that will make parents cry, knowing she’s singing about a baby that died despite medical complications, brought Ronan’s mom at some of her concerts, and of course donated to the cause. She regularly funds gofundme campaigns, so overall she seems like a pretty decent person.
I hate the use of her private jet and constant flights, but if you’re that big and hated by some people, then she can’t take regular airplanes because she can be assaulted and murdered. I wish there was some mega jumbo jet that was shared by the rich and did stops in certain cities, like as if it was “public transit” for the rich. That would be great because at least the uber wealthy would be a bit safer from being murdered that way while also certainly cutting down on significant emissions. I’d still hate it and want them to cut back more, but it would be no contest how beneficial sharing one jet versus 100 of them constantly flying everywhere would be. Some of these rich assholes fly insupplies from other countries, exotic food, etc. That pisses me off.
Taylor shouldn’t be a billionaire and I’d love for her to donate and help people out more than she’s already doing. Maybe one day people will see Swift is a bit better than other billionaires, having worked her ass off during the Eras Tour while also gifting millions of dollars to all the dancers and her staff that supported the concert. I went to her Eras tour concert with my spouse, and holy hell that was a phenomenal concert. She basically danced and sang constantly for the entire 3.5 hours or whatever. And she did that back to back for two years? Absolutely insane how much work that would take. I don’t think she gets enough credit, as I do love her music but she’s very hated for some reason.
Taylor should not have that much wealth. It’s insane. I hope she continues to give it away and donate even more than she’s already doing. Would love if she funded progressive parties and stuff like that, to give us more of a choice than the Democrats or the Pure Evil party. Maybe one day she’d be held in high regard like Dolly Parton, but let’s see. For now, I think she’s “one of the better billionaires”, but she shouldn’t be one. They shouldn’t have all the wealth.

Organise local communities via education. Explain the current problems we’re facing, and advocate on behalf of the community for what we need.
Collectively bring those concerns to local politicians and push for those changes. Get the candidates representing those changes elected locally.
Get this to snowball and we can get state representatives that advocate for these changes.
Further snowballs and it can get to the national level. Eventually, the federal level.
These changes will take decades. What we do now won’t help us. But we will help our future children’s children. We may be able to save democracy and the collapse of the U.S.
If we can’t organise, the U.S. is doomed. Don’t despair. Grieve for your country, then get radicalised and angry. Use that anger to fight the system. But we need representatives, perhaps even politicians, to instruct the general population how to fight back by organising rather than leaving hopeless and disenfranchised people to give into rage and respond with violence.
Tl;dr - Get involved with local political communities to advocate for progressive policies. Community brings concerns to local politicians. Local politicians platform for these changes and we fight to get them elected. Continue this process of snowballing to get district elections, state elections, and eventually federal elections. The only way we can get there is with progressive policies that focus on the problems of the working class, and working hard to unite the working class because the owner class will exert all their resources to divide and disenfranchise us. They need us more than we need them.

Ugh it’s the worst. Every time I remotely connect with Social Security support, there’s always such a delay while they click around. Thankfully they help me understand how many viruses I have by running some weird command called Net Stat or something idk. I see the screen flash and it’s scary. They’re even so helpful that they even help me login to my bank and transfer funds to get rid of the net viruses! I only wish they would scroll the mouse instead of clicking on the arrow bars. They’re helpful, but man do I hate when they yell and curse at me when I don’t have money and can’t pay them until next week. But I guess it’s worth the small computer struggles, but boy does it bother me when they don’t scroll the mouse wheel!
A cheap solution that might solve your volume problem is to add on an adapter that features a volume rocker dial. You can plug that into your phone and then plug your headphones into that adapter.
Something like the below screenshot. Hopefully it won’t muddy audio quality, so check this out and see if it’s something you can give a go.

Millennial in the US. These are my main devices: iPhone, gaming pc, steam deck, and an old MacBook Pro.
Honestly with how far right big tech has moved, along with the predatory tracking and telemetry, I’m considering giving up smart phones for good. Not sure I even want to bother switching to a Pixel with Graphene OS after my iPhone is done.
I miss simplicity, so I’m actively evaluating if a dumb phone (or even an e-ink dumb phone) is right for me. I’m also evaluating lugging my laptop around when I’m out and about because I can simply buy mobile service and plug in a USB cell modem if I need internet. My old 2012 MacBook Pro running Linux doesn’t track me and treat me like data cattle, so it may be worth carrying that around since I don’t get the same feeling of disgust compared to when I look at my smartphone.
