  • The concept isn’t entierly unlike fracking though there are some key differences.

    • No hydrocarbons to leak into the local water supply, their presence would actually make an area less suitable.
    • No drilling mud being pumped in.
    • No net removal of material, water goes in, the same water comes out.

Now pumping high pressure water into the ground could have some localized seismic effects though they should be pretty minimal as the best kind of rock for this kind of deep well geothermal is dense hard rock than carries more heat energy.

  • We got some of it, its just that killer drones and SI aren’t as cool on this side of the screen, and the cyberware is only for rich people (though there is a growing 3D printed movement for amputees) That said with some craft skills we can at least make the cool punk armor and kneepads and have it be reasonably functional, even deploy a blade if you’re ambitious, though more predator than mantis in that regard.

Be the change you want to see.

  • So I read some interesting stuff on this recently, (ignoring that brain size isn’t as important as brain compelxity for intelligence) a lot of creatures that have big brains including our ancestors and elephants had/have most of the extra mass in regions related to memory. The theory goes that simply remembering where everything is and picking the most likely solution (e.g. the neares watering hole that you saw water at this time last year) is generally more effective than traits like creativity and imagination… right up until you hit a break point where you start making tools and seriously modifying your environment. As we developed agriculture we had less of a need to remember every little thing so while we didn’t get less intelligent we did end up with worse memories, possibly gaining an even greater degree of creativity in return as those parts of the brain became more valuable in the new self created environment.
