Yeah, iOS/iPadOS isn’t great for that, so far as I can tell. I spent am unreasonable amount of time the other day trying to work out how to get the Obsidian vault on my iPad to sync with the vault in my SyncThing folder. Still not entirely happy with my setup. In fairness though, I’m running SyncThing on three computers, and two of them are Macs. So its solid on there.
But other than that, SyncThing isn’t a great replacement for iCloud Drive because you can’t choose what you download. So if I have 200gb in my ST folder I can’t sync it with my 128gb phone.
SyncThing for me, but yeah.
The engineers spun it up, and it asked if they wanted to back up their files to OneDrive.
I got an LG largely because the options were WebOS or shitty proprietary OS.
And yeah, LG haven’t been kind to it.
No, some of them become president.
Welcome to the Gulf of America. I love you.
If you use Android, then this app uses spotdl. It’s really handy.
Hi-MD went up to 1gb. UMD, used in the PSP, went up to 1.8gb.
Macs are the only reason I still use Apple stuff. My M2 Air is a legitimate beast of a laptop which, 18 months on still has an all day battery.
When they lock down macOS as much as they have ios, that’s when I’m putting Linux on it.
I got my first iPhone in 2009. A 3GS. Since then I’ve had a 4S, 5, 6, XR, and 13 mini.
Two weeks ago I took delivery of a Google Pixel 9, onto which I immediately put de-Googled GrapheneOS.
16 years of iPhones, 18 years of Macs. My primary Mac is a 15" M2 Air, which, as soon as Apple drop macOS support for, will be getting Asahi and that’ll be that. Apple are probably the least surprising, but certainly the most disappointing to me.
I just can’t deal with big corps any more. They’re all shithouse. All of them. Bit by bit I’m learning how to self host a bunch of tools that until now I’ve been paying for.
There’s a county cricket ground near me that was named the Hampshire Rose Bowl when it was first opened 25 years ago. In that time it has been renamed a number of times in honour of a selection of insurance companies I’d never heard of before, but to pretty much everyone in the area it’s the Rose Bowl.
So yeah.
It’s possible to know about this while also knowing that extreme fuckery is occurring. But its not like your average Lemmy user can do anything to stop either.
There’s a tiny part of me that’s willing to allow that the people voting for him in 2016 just wanted to make their protests heard. Even though he was very, very clear who he is and what he stands for, people were struggling and made themselves heard in the shittiest possible way.
But the people who voted him in again, knowing exactly how it’s going to shake out could all drop dead at once and I wouldn’t shed a tear. Fuck every one of those cunts.
By Grabthar’s hammer…
And a bunch of ads where its balls would be.
I have a similar rant with Docker.
On macOS there’s a Docker app. You can use it to install stuff, see what it’s up to, restart it and whatnot. On Linux you have to remember what commands you have to use in Terminal.
Why?!
There are loads of us out here who would appreciate a more user friendly way to use FOSS, but we’re made to feel like fuckin noobs because we don’t want to spend ages typing in commands when we could just press a couple of fucking buttons.
Anyway, apart from that I’ve been enjoying my adventures in Linux.
DOCTOR SPACEMAAAAN
I’ve just gone from an iPhone 13 mini to a Pixel 9, and two weeks in I’m still amazed at how damn big it is. I still have the 13 and get a bit spun out when I pick it up.
It’s kinda sad that there are hardly any small phones anymore. I chose the 13 mini because I wanted a small phone that I wasn’t going to spend all day doomscrolling on, and that broadly worked well for me. This time I wanted a phone that runs GrapheneOS, and don’t need the expense of any pro models, so the Pixel 9 was it. And it’s huge.
Them treads are fresh.
