While I agree in principle, a blanket enforcement seems like a great way for companies to purposely tank smaller entities just to get hold of their code/IP. Alongside this, it probably doesn’t help to just release the code, when these devices will run on web services, or perhaps even proprietary tech.

Now, if you were to frame this as 16m people NOT being treated for preventable illnesses that would likely be treated in most western countries, that is a damning statistic. It indicates that people are walking around ill/injured for no reason other than greed, draining hospital resources further. It also indicates a lack of quality in care, since those doctors that could be getting their reps in learning to administer specific drugs or procedures don’t get to because “insurance says no lol”.

They’re some of the most toxic people you’ll ever meet, probably a step or two down from anime fans. Sometimes I’ll sneeze, and people will ask who is wearing perfume, or comment that someone’s clothes smell like they were fresh out of the wash. What’s actually happening is they’re breathing my spores, and they love it.
To put this pay into perspective, you could take it and give everyone in the US that is living in poverty around $1400. It wouldn’t necessarily save them from poverty, but such an amount would undoubtedly help over a million people in a dire situation.
