He’s just mad that the Linux community upstaged HURD
The entire thread is hilarious.
“I had to remove my laptop’s battery, now Windows won’t update.”
“Are you using a laptop or desktop?”
“I said I am using a laptop without a battery.”
“Please share a screenshot of your device manager, so I can make sure whether or not you are using a laptop or desktop.”
“Fine.” (Posts screenshot)
“According to your screenshot, you are using a laptop, and it has a battery in it. Please charge the battery to 40%.”
“That’s it. I’m using Linux.”
I don’t know anything about Plex, but I know people have written scripts for migrating Jellyfin databases and installations. Are there no scripts like that for Plex?
I have little patience for digital systems anymore. I want my computer to “just work” the same way I expect a shovel to just work. I prefer Debian.
My understanding was it used to be windows was decent enough, whilst Linux was an upgrade for those who valued freedom.
Now Linux is quickly going from ‘upgrade’ to ‘only sensible option.’
If my mother can’t tell the difference between Firefox and the OS, but can use Linux mint just fine, then so can the average user.
Its not just Linux. NVIDIA sucks on windows too, but those PCMR types aren’t willing to admit it.
I mean, DNA can be stored in a file. Hormones and steroids can be described discretely by chemical composition. And while we still don’t understand how the frontal lobe works, we do understand how brains store, recognize, and recall information, which is the basis for generative AI today.
I’ve never met anyone who likes the windows shell environment, or uses it by choice. Only people who try very hard to convince themselves UNIX is somehow worse.
Not just deepin, but really any piece of software made by a Chinese or Chinese owned company should be treated with suspicion. At least, until the inevitable fall of the CCP occurs.
I like Debian. So many Debian/Ubuntu based distros, trying to improve upon it, but I think its great as it is.
Each individual cracker is wrapped, meaning you can’t use them in your homemade pub mix.
I swear. If they start adding ‘open’ and ‘free’ to their buzzword salad…
Windows 10 is easy to install… If everything goes well. And 2 out of 3 times in my experience, it doesn’t.
I would rather describe Windows as a dampened oscillation with an undefined steady state.
What does it say about me? I have a French press, and I don’t even use it for coffee.
You would be right, only if a preference for one OS didn’t negatively affect other OSes. If less people used windows, there would be fewer windows-exclusive software. And if that were the case, the likelihood would decrease that my university classes would require windows-exclusive software.
You might say, “just use wine,” or “just use a windows VM.” Wine doesn’t always work with all software, and using a windows VM would undermine one of my main reasons for using Linux, which is privacy.
It is therefore in my best interest that people stop using windows. It’s not a vendetta, it’s not activism, it’s democracy.
Valve has proven they will go to great lengths to utterly thwart would-be monopolies that threaten PC gaming (the real reason proton exists). We just need to find a way to convince them that Google is a threat too.
