I’m not sure why Trump would think that, Musk explicitly told him they were doing fine.
Musk is in charge and Donny gets to shitpost on Twitter, is that not what he wanted?

It’s like a repost, but it lets you add your own post to it and shows the original post as a quote bubble.
So like this?
Or like this?

There don’t seem to be parallels to most of the communities I belonged to on Reddit.
One adjustment I had to make when I moved over to Lemmy is posting/commenting more. On Reddit most of the time your comment was buried. On Lemmy, a bunch of people are going to see it.
Not saying you need to be the only poster, but sometimes everyone just posting a bit more will reveal a community.
I mean what they can do I’ve said. What I expect is a lot more damage from the Trump administration. Democrats are generally on board with reigning the administration in and/or stopping it, depending on what happens.
Unfortunately the majority for most things sit with Republicans, so it will be slow getting them to respond to Trump. I expect a few Republicans will chime in from time to time, might help stop a few things. Of course Congress lacks the resources to enforce things, so it’ll be interesting to see what happens there.
Eventually Trump is going to go too far. I would argue he already has, but specifically he’s going to go too far for Republicans. The speaker, Johnson, is the one to watch. I think McConnell still has some sway, but he’s also clearly very ill physically. Actually Republicans that are usually quiet are probably the ones to watch first.
Dems have no choice but to confirm her through.
That was the Bernie plan in 2016 & 2020 during the primaries. Clinton had the support of the established Democratic party and with superdelegates Clinton took a commanding lead. Similar situation with Biden, most dropped out before Super Tuesday and endorsed him.
Now both of these instances could be considered “smart politics”. If you’ve got the political maneuvering to win the primary, then maybe you’ve got the same maneuvering to win the general.
It didn’t work out for Clinton. It did work out for Biden.
When we look at our most recent election, it’s clear there was a little bit more of a rift, but Harris was chosen and there was no primary.
Now, some of this is simplified and there is plenty to argue. But suffice to say we can’t just vote for AOC “so much” that she’ll win. I don’t see the Democratic party supporting her.
Now it’s too early to talk about 2028 realistically and a lot can change between now and then, but if she were running today she’d have my vote.
Yes, what congress WILL do versus what they SHOULD do are different things.
If you look at things like the recent Gaza statements by Trump I think it’s clear Trump is going to continuously step over the line and others will need to walk it back. Eventually that someone will be congress, I just hope it’s sooner rather than later, although I fear it will be later rather than sooner.
What do you propose that they do?
Impeach and remove Trump. Yes, a Vance administration might do the same things but Congress would make it clear they’re not willing to allow such bullshit.
Or subpoena Musk and others, which I know recently failed a vote to do exactly that.
Congress CAN do a lot of things, they were designed to be a powerful pillar of government. They have ceded much of that power through inaction over the years but they can take it back.
https://docs.bsky.app/docs/advanced-guides/federation-architecture
And reading an article from TechCrunch,
“The social network has a Twitter-like user interface with algorithmic choice, a federated design and community-specific moderation.”
“Is Bluesky decentralized? Yes. Bluesky’s team is developing the decentralized AT Protocol, which Bluesky was built atop.”
“However, the launch of federation will make it work more similarly to Mastodon in that users can pick and choose which servers to join and move their accounts around at will.”
So it definitely is pitching that is it decentralized and federated. Maybe the argument is that it “will be”, but at the moment it is not and at the moment it does not look like it will be an actual possibility.
Now people leaving Twitter is great, don’t get me wrong, but it’s possibly just kicking the can down the road. In a few years we’ll likely have articles complaining about missing “Old Bluesky” and how “new Bluesky” has the exact same problems that “Old Twitter” had.
If no one cares enough to reopen it once every 6 months, then it’s probably fine to ignore it indefinitely.
It’s a matter of psychology. If I file a bug and it is ignored for years, I’m annoyed but eventually I either accept it, find a workaround or move on to something new. I may still file bugs in the future, especially if I’ve got a workaround, since other people probably want to know.
However if my bug is closed and I have to reopen it every six months. Now I’m kinda pissed. I have to be reminded every six months for years that this is just broken. I put in the effort, but now some bot has just come along and closed it. Plus it’s going to be harder to find an existing or similar bug. I’m less likely to look at closed bugs. But also, what if I find four similar closer bugs. Now if someone was tracking that bug they don’t realize this has happened to four different users. If we had just kept it in one big we’d all know. Also someone elses workaround is better than mine, or maybe it’s worse.
I understand if a project wants to declare bug bankruptcy. It shouldn’t happen often but if you do that’s the time to organize things.
“Heihei” translates to “chicken”.
So there is no guarantee that childhood “Heihei”, Moana 1 “Heihei” and Moana 2 “Heihei” are all the same chicken.
Sure Moana 1 & Moana 2 are probably the same. But childhood “Heihei”, probably a different chicken.
Adams, who faces federal corruption charges
Oh jeez, does anyone know someone capable of handing out federal pardons and loves when people suck up to him?
I agree and disagree. That is the question you ask. That is not how you start a conversation. I’m not assuming corruption. Some of them I’ve generally agree with in the past, maybe I will this time, this was an important vote, it’s going to be difficult to convince me.
I know being tricked is a possibility. It’s politics. Sometimes you got got. That sucks, you live another day. You get got (tricked) enough, I lose my faith.
But of course the fucked up thing is, we’re debating Democrat representatives. It’s a whole extra level of fucked up that Republican representatives just get a pass. The ole, I know you’re a piece of shit so of course you’re terrible and voted against it.
Again I don’t want to excuse bad actions, but also let’s not ignore the shitty actions of those known to be shitty. It’s an important reality to be aware of.
Because a number of them have a good track record.
It’s not a free pass and I’ll likely still criticize them, but I’m willing to give them a moment to explain.
Also, none of these representatives are my representative, my representative did accurately represent me. So for others, I’ll give them a moment to explain.
Anyone who thought or for some reason still thinks that Ginsberg and Trump align is an idiot. @ me, you’re an idiot.
Ginsberg had a specific and nuanced legal argument that essentially came down to, a law should be passed to clarify the right to abortion. Ginsberg was pro choice. However as a judge and Supreme Court Justice she had a specific and nuanced opinion, but ultimately believed Roe v Wade provided the correct answer, but how it got there did have some shakey legal ground.
Because it’s bad if China has the information. It’s fine if “US entity” had the information. The ban is ultimately fake. No one banning the app cares about TikTok, they just hate that China is getting the information they want. What will happen is some US based company, Oracle last time, but someone like that will buy a sufficient enough stake in the company and the ban will not happen. It will be declared “safe” and the data will go to a US controlled entity, but also still secretly to China. (The later will be revealed years later, to the shock of no one.)
My assumption for those who didn’t vote is that they were not in DC at the time.
Now why they were not in DC should be the focus. For example did the speaker pull some shenanigans? Did the representative attend something that felt was more important?
I’m not going to justify the action, but I’m curious if they put out a statement to try and explain it. I think we all know political speak and can see through it.
I don’t have an Xbox, but on my Switch I can play the game without updating the game. I may not be able to utilize any online features, but if that server is gone I wouldn’t be using them anyway.
From Wikipedia,
Following the dismissal of FBI Director James Comey on May 9, 2017, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie presented to President Donald Trump the possibility of hiring Wray as Comey’s replacement.
So fire the dude you appointed and replace with someone more loyal. Well this will go well /s
I look in the mirror every morning and yell at that fucking idiot who uses Lemmy. It’s my favorite time of the day. :)
