It does not mention it and I cannot see any official statement, but that seems like a logical reason. Reddit management however is not famous for being logical so we will see.

That probably is the idea, to have a competitor to Patreon and OnlyFans. They should have probably mentioned that as an example before some people start thinking /r/worldnews becomes paywalled.
Donald′s classic ″You are so lame and unpopular, nobody knows who you are″ rebuttal. Such a quick witted mind he has.
To be honest, not using TLS nowadays is pretty surprising.
Is there a reason to think there will be no trial and this guy by some reason will end up in some CIA black site without trial?
I just find it interesting that someone who has absolutely no trust in authorities does not have a theory that court can be influenced by the same authorities.
If you will not trust authorities how do you expect them to prove it to you?
Not just CEO. I would say he might have known even less of procedures in detail than middle management. You wouldn’t pardon all Nazis just because Hitler was on top, would you? If what you do willingly is non-ethical even if you don’t call the shots, you are just as bad.
Sure they have more money to donate, but most of population is not donating even a single cent even if they could. I do have savings which I am keeping to buy a decent flat. In theory I don’t necessarily must have it and I could settle with worse option and instead help someone who is worse than me, yet I am chosing to not do it.
We can also help by donating our time instead of money, go volunteer in soup kitchen or something like that. I don’t ever see myself doing that.
I donate maybe 15 eur per year through some store options (I either get 1 cent per each 1 eur I spend or I can transfer it to charity. Or with deposit system I can donate 10 cents per each can, bottle of beverage I buy instead of getting that deposit back). I don’t think I have explicitly transferred money otherwise. Relatively speaking I am just as bad as any billionaire when it comes to charity.
Is anyone else besides China doing this? Cannot really call it international norm if 1 country is doing this.
Agree on this except I have doubts that this statement is true
It is insulting that a Chinese run social media platform provides more freedom of speech online than its US competitors.
Aren’t we primarily ok with this guy being assassinated because he was the face of a terrible company not because he was CEO in general? If someone from middle management or even low level worker who personally denied this guy′s insurance claim would have been assasinated, would we suddenly feel sorry?
Also remember that people like surgeons or dentists also can be considered ″filthy rich″ by your average Joe standards.
You could point fingers to almost anyone, this is not specific to extra wealthy. All of us here probably have it better than 70% of humanity, yet we choose to watch a movie instead of go help others. Dedicating a large part of your life in helping others is very admirable, but it’s not something you can expect everyone to do.
Pretty sure there have not been many deserters holding such niche position. His identity already should be known.
Too late, I am now a proud owner of Citroën
From article
Reddit challenged its designation on the basis that it is mostly a text-based discussion platform, and links to videos uploaded elsewhere on the internet should not be factored in. The Irish regulator counter-argued that the audio-visual content on the platform is extensive, and pointed to its enormous reach, with 73 million daily users.
Could not find any post statistics, but they probably are correct and percentage wise uploaded videos should be at the bottom, but total count probably is too large to be simply disregarded. Reddit probably has more videos than Vimeo which is purely video based. And if Reddit would be in the clear then so should be Twitter and Facebook since those too are primarily text based.
Because most people did not use 3rd party apps and do not care about site′s management. Why move to someplace else if everything works great where you already are.
Keepass2Android supports many cloud options including Nextcloud and OwnCloud so it sync with storage directly. At least with Dropbox it works like a charm.
It should fix system files that are not in expected state (I assume corruption, missing, wrong permissions etc.). Maybe it was more useful in the past, but after trying it couple times around 8 years ago and never seeing any benefit, I have never thought of using it since.
My colleague said it fixed some random issue once or twice after he was out of ideas.
If system is truly messed up, it’s often faster and more reliable to just reinstall it, especially if you do not have much custom config.

I like this article where instead of typical Florida Man term they used Florida Jew.
