Right.
Right.
The problem seems to be load balancing, or lack thereof. A German guy on YouTube noticed that his cable got up to 150°C at the PSU end, due to one wire delivering 20 or 22 amps, while the others were getting a lot less pumped through them. 22 Ampere is pretty much half the power draw of the card, through one wire instead of three if the load was properly balanced between them. That’s why it ran so hot and melted to shit.
If you’ve ever worked on your car’s 12 V electrics system, you’ll know how thick the wires (and corresponding connector sizes) are for things like window defrosters that will run through a 20 or 30 amp fuse.

You’re never gonna push the technological envelope with that attitude, bro.
Seems to be less about the connector, but more about load balancing. The German guy who had 150°C connectors at the PSU side also measured current draws. One cable was doing 22 A (so almost half of the 5090’s total consumption) while the other 7 five were just chilling.
Currently own one, but had to double check.
I’m not 100% sure if it’s the Mk3 or Mk4 dash. Probably Mk4, with the fantastic red on blue color scheme.
A quick Google search tells me that a “very high” and possibly lethal dose is two milligrams, so 10 kilograms of the stuff can kill five million people.
They’re still one of the most prominent companies if you’re shopping for a mainboard or graphics card. They even have Intel GPUs in their lineup.
36 Watts idle sounds like a lot for a 5800X3D. I’ll see what my 5700X3D does, never checked that. Not in software and not at the wall.
The last game I preordered was CP 2077. Wasn’t even mad because I got a decent price for a physical copy and it was worth it for the memes alone.
I did pre-order KC:D II, but it’s the first full price big title I’ve purchased in a long while. I was hoping to have a new GPU at release, but it looks like I’ll have to wait a little longer. At least they’ll have ironed out the major bugs at that point.
The reason I preordered the game was that there’s a bonus quest, the game was 10% off and I can theoretically still cancel my preorder from Gamesplanet in case the reviews suck. It’s not like pre-orders are irreversible.
I even love that over the top cheesy opening scene with Alyssa Milano.
Index fingers unless I need to use the bumper buttons at he same time.
Right, that’s what I figured.
Please tell me: what is a banana cleaner device?
I compared my Vega 56 with the RX 7900 GRE, which would be a 2.5x to 3x performance upgrade. I’d imagine the RX 580 to B580 swap would be in the same ballpark.
Looking at Vega’s release reviews though, it was 40% faster than the RX 580. I assume your gains would be higher than 200%.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it, but I don’t think it’s an underrated masterpiece.
Well, of course. What can you expect from a Chinese PCB that costs only 2500 USD, right?
