Not sure how this would work as most corporations aren’t isolated to a single state and they’re the ones sending your tax dollars to the feds via payroll deductions. I see this as being similar to banks who won’t allow dispensaries to have bank accounts since they’re still illegal federally even if it’s perfectly legal within the state.
The “they feel like it” would be for the next time not this situation. This is why it is important to nit create bad precedents like this
Considering the GOP is so good about following “precedent?” How absurd. This law is specific to NY so what other states are you referring to when you claim that other governors might do this too?
Are they siblings? I’ve had cats my entire life and it seems that they only ever get along well if they’ve grown up with each other. Adding a new cat hasn’t typically worked out great.
A bunch on nonsense. There maroons think that getting banned from Facebook for making death threats is the same as the government imprisoning you for speaking out against genocide.
Not according to NY law, as there is no mention of a trial in the relevant statute.
Can you quote the specific law you feel is being ignored?
We don’t want to make it acceptable for a governor to remove a mayor because they feel like it.
“Because they feel like it?” Are you unaware of the charges against him or something? This isn’t based on feelings it’s based on the crimes he’s committed while in office that he and Trump are trying to sweep under the rug.
And what happens if those other governors remove mayors for political reasons anyway?
It’s fucking insane how gullible some of these people are. I still spend time on Facebook and see a lot of their rhetoric and they’ll literally post screenshot of TikTok videos from random people as proof of some massive conspiracy being committed by the “deep state” or whatever the current news cycle is telling them to hate.
I’d say this is at least more than 50% BS as the “number of incidents” you’re referring to are mostly comprised of extremely minor things that have to be reported by law. Your train derailment example would include things like a rail car popping off the tracks inside a train yard while getting pushed around and loaded which is fairly inconsequential and shouldn’t be compared to or lumped in with something like a major derailment where toxic chemicals are dumped all over a community and then lit on fire same with plane crashes and midair collisions like we’ve been seeing.
Not to mention you can just make another Baking community on a separate instance. No need to make “Baking2” or anything like that.
I think the problem we have is that we don’t have the “power users” who submit all the content that everyone discusses and replies to. I don’t think this is necessarily good or bad as there are pros and cons to these types of users, but at the end of the day you need new content to drive more engagement and creating new content is a ton of work with little payoff.
I don’t have an answer to any of your questions and I don’t think many others will either. It seems like one of those things that you look back at with the clarity of hindsight in order to map things out.
But at the end of the day, tricks and manipulation can only get you so far. When quarterly filings show poor performance and stores start shutting down, I don’t see how they (and by extension their share price) could possibly recover or increase. The issues they face aren’t some temporary storm they have to weather, it’s a permanent change in consumer’s buying habits and the market as a whole. Even outside of retail sales, the entire gaming industry has been in shambles for several years now with no change in sight.
Corporations absolutely are people, at least according to Mitt Romney and SCOTUS.
What’s sad is that $5 parking is a killer deal.
There’s also just the denial phase.
As evidenced in The Big Short when it was very clear to banks and regulators that the whole mortgage shell game was falling apart and they all refused to act on it.
This guy also doesn’t seem to recognize the $1200 stimulus checks Trump sent out at the end of his term right before he lost the election.
I really just threw in my covid check but what really made me think it’s still worth is the original guy who saw value when the stock was worth less than $7 doubled his position and still to this day is holding on. He knows more than me and he saw this happening and probably sees something else too that I don’t understand so whatever I’m still holding a good amount of GME.
But if you step back and see the forest for the trees, what place do they have in this economy when most new games are digital purchases and trend more and more toward that with each day? They aren’t selling retro game and only deal with current stuff and their prices are insanely high compared to the digital storefronts. The chotchkis alone (Funko pops and TShirts) aren’t enough to sustain all the overhead for a company this large. They’ve tried to branch out into PC gaming accessories but who’s going to go there versus online?
There’s literally nothing stopping him from defending himself. What are you even talking about?
