1729 is a very interesting number.
1730… is not.

Big fan of thin sliced raw onion on hot sandwiches or grilled cheese. A single tomato slice is also super good with raw onion on sandwiches.
She’s just practicing :)
I know the video you are referencing - I think it’s this one.
Let me tell you, though. Even 5 years is enough to make any sort of potential employer wrinkle their nose at your application. I had to dig hard through my grave topsoil.
Any advice? I had a long hiatus from trying to get a degree due to depression/anxiety, and I fear I’ll also have a hard time explaining the gap away.
Tankie doesn’t really mean anything to me anymore. Even self-proclaimed tankies often have trouble defining it in a way that is consistent among leftist groups.
I’m not too knowledgable on all the lore, but iirc:
Basically, the entire main faction is a hyper-fascist, fundamentalist, imperial, and ultra-violent organization. A lot of the other factions operate with a similar amount of cruelty and violence.
The point is that no faction in Warhammer can really be known as “the good guys.” I always perceived the 40k universe as a caricature of some of the worst aspects of mankind, but I play along as a cog in the machine, knowing it’s bad. Neo-nazis tend to perceive the Astartes/Space Marines as glorious heroes. It’s akin to alt-righters enjoy Starship Troopers and Rage Against the Machine, without recognizing the irony.
Imagine just doing your job and then suddenly, something happens and now you are almost guaranteed to get cancer.
What a shitshow indeed.
It’s getting really fucking annoying to look at steam reviews and discussions and running across several “is it woke?” posts.
Often times, it will be “one black NPC in a historically white environment, one female in a combat position, it’s been ruined by wokeness.”
Or often “two non-essential NPCs are in a gay relationship, stay away” when they could be entirely avoided by accident.
It’s disappointing.
I’ve been really into Meridian 59 lately, but haven’t been playing in the past couple of weeks. Thanks for the reminder.
Hi Jeena, long time no see 👋
It certainly isn’t because of Trump, but Yoon is really well known for the same sort of behavior. Covering up investigations, implementing reactionary (but overall pointless) policies, suing media for defamation, denying the existence of sexism, and all the other good stuff.
I, too, quite like Genesis
EDIT: I just realized someone else made the same post :'(
Interesting… loading the post link (lemmy.world) in a browser does not show any video embed, but loading the post through lemm.ee autoplays the video embed.
To be fair, I think there’s a distinction to be made between “something is wrong, blow up the missile before it hits the wrong target” and “target reached, blow up the missile”
Yeah, definitely can’t rely on it for too long. Double granite walls can hold off basic enemies for a ridiculous amount of time, though.
This is advice I’ve given to new Rimworld players, and I hope it was helpful. The game (on most difficulties) is itching to give you the next “scenario.”
Building your wealth in valuable equipment is not very good at the start of the game, because your town’s silver value will go up much faster than its defensive/offensive capabilities. You end up putting a target on your back for raids.
Better to build a surrounding wall and set up trap corridors than to worry about getting everyone a gun.
Only thing I can think of is installations that include drivers. And even then, not all of them.
To be fair, when you first install it/set up an account, it doesn’t know what you like, so it shows you the most generally popular material. A lot of that popular material is pretty… uncomfortable.
And so it becomes true.
