  • Ya but when it’s posted on a social media they can’t control and you aren’t American, they can’t stop it. It’s why videos of the genocide were all over Tik Tok but not US social media. The US does the same things, but with Instagram and similar (even in your first article it shows they have that capability and worse. Which checks out, I’ve had Instagram and FB make ad suggestions for things I’ve searched on completely different apps or web pages, or sometimes just something I’ve talked about.)

I would argue that Chinese controlled social media is better if you’re trying to get past US censored channels and surveillance and you live in the US. Same if I was in China, I’d be saying the about US social media probably.

Of course fediverse service would be the best case scenario.

  • Fog of war and all, so I’m guessing no one knows, but here’s my take: This is more recent so it’s probably more true that they haven’t actually been fighting yet. IIRC those rumors before of them fighting has only been coming from South Korea and Ukraine. Ukraine, while I support them, clearly has a biased motivation to seem as outnumbered and out-gunned as possible to express a need to their allied nations to give them more weapons, and even to try to get them to join the war themselves. South Korea’s bias is pretty obvious. Neither offered much physical evidence except I think a flag they found.

The US is also biased, but are a step removed, so I believe their intelligence on this topic more than either of those two until we get something even more recent and clear. Also it’s hilarious to me imagining them being worse than Russian convicts lol.

  • They didn’t sprout from nothing. Even from the beginning, they were being interfered with by capitalist and anti-revolutionary forces who started out with all the money and resources, like the white army or the black hundreds, not to mention being neighbors with reactionary imperialist countries, like Germany, and coming from authoritarian countries, like Tsarist Russia, where those ruling elements (old regime nobles, business interests, rich landowners, generals, etc) still existed and were in power or at least a place to sabotage the effort.

  • People are blind to the current propaganda, too. Just look at how many articles demonize China every day, which has never bombed a country, while ignoring other authoritarian countries and their imperialism that bomb countries every day (like Saudi Arabia or Turkey). Meanwhile, we need to turn to sources like Al Jazeera to find out what’s happening in Israel with our own government money. Just look at how freaked out the country got to Bernie Sanders and how the capitalist class (including the media) closed ranks to stop him. Look at how the US treats Cuba and Biden still signed a law against them. Until Russia’s war, the most sanctioned countries were all communist (Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela) while other authoritarian countries got a pass. But nobody notices. The propaganda has never stopped.

  • Maybe with that attitude. Bernie’s movement rose from people hating the word socialist to everyone freaking out one might become President in less than a year. The Bolsheviks went from 20,000 at the beginning of the year to more than 200,000 and taking over Russia by the October Revolution. Things can change quickly if people put in the effort. Things are already primed. People are looking for a change now.

If people want to look into local chapters of organizations, there’s the PSL (socialist), the FRSO (socialist), and the Greens (progressive). Working within the Democratic party is the WFP and DSA. I think it’s a bad idea, but there’s a faction in the DSA looking to separate from them more, maybe there is in the WFP, too, idk. There’s also even more local based organizations that focus on other issues but can be pulled into a political fight later, like tenants unions, Food Not Bombs, labor unions, the Tech Workers Coalition, things like that. Hopefully we can connect these struggles together at some point and make something viable.
