Cetirizine (Zyrtec) is pretty good and I think a tier 3 antihistamine. Allegra might be too.

If you need Zyrtec D, save a ton of money and get a separate Pseudoephedrine and Cetirizine. We get a 20 pack of generic Sudafed for $6 and a huge bottle of Cetirizine that last a year for cheap. The big bottle is around the price of a small pack of Zyrtec D.

Where the fuck were my parents?

If they were like mine, busy working. Also my parents both told us about how whenever a thermometer broke at school the teachers would show the kids how the liquid mercury felt to hold! They were both born in the early 50s.

I’m pretty sure it and leaded fuel and paint explains a lot of the boomer problems we’ve had over the decades.

  • I feel like this could be an attention problem. 8 is too many kids not to have serious help keeping a family running.

Also it sounds a bit like idiocracy if they can’t learn to fucking stay near an adult. Future Darwin Award contestants maybe?

My son was shy, but he hid from us a couple times. But he was taught from as soon as he could understand that wandering from mom and dad (or uncles or grandparents) was a bad idea. But he’s also an only child and has said some pretty weirdly mature things. He scolds me for putting marker caps in my mouth and makes sure I have all relevant PPE when we’re working in the shop for instance, and he’s been doing it since he was 4-5.

  • Ahhh checking to see if it’s hot enough for the leidenfrost effect is very different that what I was imagining cooking with it would be.

The reason the droplet dances around and doesn’t immediately evaporate is because the layer of steam separates (insulates) the droplet from the pan. The effect can also be used to protect a wetted hand from molten lead.

A hot pan will still cook things, but a hot pan with thin layer of oil will cook most things even faster. That’s why grilled cheeses cook much better with fat than dry.
