I finally set up Joplin server. It is a revelation after too long using Syncthing to sync databases. I wasn’t able to use Joplin on Android anymore- the sync to file system had gotten too slow. Now everything syncs pretty much instantly!

I usually try a new restaurant alone before taking people there. Lean into it!
They can’t really switch later, though. At least, all of their submissions and comments stay at the old account
The ultimate useful idiot
I’ve started only reacting to the latest shit he does if it isn’t blocked by a court order within 5 days
People can follow and comment to my WordPress from the fediverse. My posts are long enough that they don’t really look right on Mastodon (and images all show up as attachments rather than inline), but nice for shorter format blogs
I do the same, but I’ve run into a bottleneck where Joplin syncs encrypted notes really, really slowly to local storage. So looking to switch to hosted Joplin server
I find the average atheist seems to be more familiar with the messages of the Bible than many of these people who claim to spend their Sundays studying it.
The headline says hospitals. And they would be forced by this bill to administer ivermectin
I subscribe to more periodicals than most, I think probably almost twenty of them. I just cut out NYTimes, Washington Post, LA Times, Atlantic. I was growing disillusioned with some of their coverage- NYTimes desperately triangulating to the comfortable, safe, meaningless center, WaPo and LAT owned by oligarchs kissing Trump’s ring. Atlantic just bores me lately- lots of opinion and not a lot of investigative coverage. But happy to add The Verge. I’ve read them daily since they were This Is My Next and don’t intend to stop.
I use Home Assistant DuckDNS and Nginx addons. DuckDNS handles the dynamic DNS updating when my ISP inevitably changes my IP address. Let’s Encrypt for certificates. Nginx for proxying to IPs on my network
Vertical would be if MS owned the carrier, the manufacturer, the operating system etc. Horizontal applies here where they own many interconnecting parts of the same layer of the market. Search, browser, email, etc, all being used to promote each other at the expense of competitors
I was actually a fan of Outlook for Android. Followed system dark mode before it was cool, had real multi account inbox, good wearos app, and other useful features. Then they started inserting Bing search into my long press menu system wide. And also recommending Edge when I clicked links. This kind of horizontal integration is just too baked into the company DNA. They can’t help themselves, even when it actually harms them
1,2,4,6,7,8,10,12,15 I’d say of any of them that cooking is the one that I think really makes a difference.
At least it theoretically has account portability…but yes, I fear people are setting themselves up to be enshittified again, as Cory Doctorow has brought up
Same, also the Readrops app. Less features but faster sync.
As the article mentions, Italy already did that! “Hold my prosecco”
That’s my point!
Yep, I did it earlier today. Took about half an hour to set up, download and convert 75 books and comics
