  • Also, David basically brought a gun to a knife fight against Goliath. Seems like Goliath should have been considered the underdog :3

Its been suggested that the combat could have been a ritualistic slaughter. Much like the Gladiator Ring was ritualized slaughter, to appease the masses.

IE: David vs Goliath, if it were to ever have happened in true history, would have always been written down like the story. The concept of “true history” wasn’t invented until centuries after that particular story. The purpose of writing in the Bronze Age was to build shared culture and shared stories.

  • Its all backwards.

We need to first build a group through action. Starting with a much easier protest, such as a large scale boycott and a pledge to support the boycott, is likely the first step towards actual organization.

We also should consider local forms of resisting, such as teachers deleting records of social security numbers (as ICE is now seeking to deport even on school grounds).

There is a lot to teach others and to organize over. But a fucking strike? The fuck? You reserve strikes for the most important and climactic events.

There will one day be a need to call for a strike. So I’m not against organization of that. But we are very, very premature to be talking about that.

  • If I strike, it doesn’t hurt the megarich. A strike hurts my boss.

Doubly so because I’m in a small company and therefore my boss is literally the end of the chain.

Secondly, the middle class voted for Trump. Unless you convince them that Trump is a threat this call for a strike will only cause them to gobble up your job and make you homeless.

The website says only 10 million people, or thereabouts, are needed to make this strike successful. Guess what? We only needed 10 million more votes to stop Trump.

  • Organization is the first step but a general strike is stupid.

No one is stopping their jobs or risking their livelihoods over this. The election shows that there is not enough people who believe in the threat of Donald Trump. The next step forward is convincing people of the threat.

Strikes and the like are only useful if you have enough supporters. Otherwise the scabs will eat you alive.
