I noticed Alt-Text is far less popular on lemmy than on mastodon.social, not a fan, but maybe it has to do something with the User-Interface, and how obvious alt-text is made.

On a more serious note: I wonder if the year of Lemmy will never come. Constant de-federation and churn might splinter it again, much like distros did kinda splinter the Linux desktop.

How can a president in a democratic country order a dam opening, and this is left unchallenged by knowledgeable experts affected by the dam and stake holders? There seems a deep flaw in the system when it comes to the singular power of the US-president?
Trump started it, now is not the time to think how this is bad. You need to choose a side and act accordingly with countermeasures, which will likely escalate further.

Who bought this debt (US treasury bonds)? Mostly China, Japan, North Americans and Europeans … So they depend on the system, the circle closes. The US is the biggest importer in the world, and the years since 1945 where used for exporter nations to optimize and streamline for the American costumer. Breaking away from that system would be painful.
And who will remove him from office if deemed incapable? Would he be replaced by his vice president JD Vance who supports his policies?

This tariff war inside north America is unprecedented since 1945. We will need more Data to evaluate consequences and clearly distinguish random market fluctuations from real consequences; remind me in 10 days/months/years. Capital flows might still strengthen the Dollar in the short term, as countries who depend on exporting commodities (namely oil/coal/wood) into the US will attempt to lower prices to compete with domestic US producers …
honestly the US military airforce has crazy technology, this meme was an attempt to hint at the extreme contrast: competence of the airforce vs. the awkward/un-normal actions of their commander in chief.
