There’s definitely a spectrum, but I would hope creators themselves could do that.

Yes, absolutely, but we also preserve everything because separating the wheat from the chaff is too much work. For example, most people store all the pictures they take because it’s easier than selecting the ones we might want later. But we kmow some of them are useless.
True but at the dawn of computing we were too naïve. We couldn’t imagine people would record everything.
Eh. The Internet is too full of useless crap thst costs energy to keep alive. No one needs endless swathes of boring videos. If there are some valuable recordings there, then they can preserve those.
That’s exactly the other meaning I described. In Portuguese it was/is used to separate the vowels so they are not pronounced together.
Well, my point is that it’s not considered a u, and Austrian and Swiss don’t use it.
Also, fun fact, some romance languages like French and Brazilian Portuguese have an identical diacritic to umlaut but it’s different. It’s meant to mean the vowel is separate (like in the word naïve)
Für is short for fuer. The umlauts are tiny “e” on top of the letters
I’d love to swap else with alors in all languages

How about placing your laptop in an uncomfortable place? Mount it on the wall so that it’s usable but unpractical to use it for more than a few minutes? I don’t think the problem you describe can be solved with a specific computer.
You want to be able to find information in a YouTube video or reddit thread without getting sucked into the rest of YouTube or reddit. Your only solution is discipline.
Listen, if you think a BRICS currency won’t be controlled by oligarchs, you’re just fooling yourself. But at least there would be more oligarchs controlling things, not just a few Americans.
I think the best outcome of a BRICS currency is that, like in the Eurozone, a common currency nudges countries to cooperate more with each other instead of fight, and this can have a broader positive effect on other countries.
A bit better than having a one single currency dominating virtually all global trade, but only so slightly.
Good luck changing that in the heart of the German auto industry.
This was published 1 day ago? That a whole other level of relevant xkcd.
That’s the problem of thinking of companies as people. Company operate like ruthless people people they usually responde to several stakeholders that all control the company like an ouija board.
I like to say that corporations will never go out of their way to be charitable. There’s always a bottom line, being it PR or direct profit. Even PR and Marketing spend has to eventually lead to increase in profit.
Lookup the East Sea, aka Sea of Japan. Or the Tagus river, aka Tejo river. There’s plenty other examples I can’t remember now. People don’t always agree on what to call things that cross borders. Usually we just agree to disagree as there’s no point arguing.
The answer is to make these accounts look more ligitimate.
Imagine you kicked a partner in the neck while sleeping. That would be fun.
