Currently I run Talos on a VM on scale. I went with Truecharts. The plan for me is to run it on bare metal at some point.

You can choose a slower train for scale. Go for the stable release or even the enterprise release. Update once in a few months or so.

I went with Talos OS for my apps after the mess from IX-systems and for the most part it has been set and forget.

You can robably get about any server and make a NAS out of that.

They are good printers. It is just a crappy company showing their true colors… Which is sad for the consumers. Consumers are just the victims here. I never bought or owned a Bambu though. I always went with Prusa and now moving to Voron.

wait so i can use a single HBA and use some of the ports to connect to the oculink ports of the backplane and some for the miniSAS ports of the backplane?

Hey, So I have been looking for a motherboard that has multiple PCIE gen3 x16 slots. i wanted to use a amd ryzen 9000 CPU but at least for asrock server boards they only have a single PCIE gen5 x16 slot. do you know if their is a single HBA that i can use to connect everything to instead of using multiple?

Thank you! This helps a load. If i understand correctly when you use the oculink it becomes nvme only. and when using the other connector like miniSAS it will work with SATA/SAS instead?

Also I am not entirely sure how the 2 drives in the back are connected I think straight to one of the HBAs?

Grapheneos with a dedicated profile with those China apps. Dont allow the profile to run in the background. Then just use tor with snowflake or one of the many methods of tor to bypass the firewall of China.

I know that their are great integrations on home assistant to monitor servers. Then you can make your own dashboard as you wish

Perhaps urbackup? It is suited for multiple different platforms and supports multiple users. I don’t know of it can be hosted on k8s as I am not too familiar with that yet.

Also need a router that allows for VLANS as well. Otherwise you can not access the other network when your home. As you need routing between the VLANS. Or you can use a L3 switch.

Yes kind of but it is not strictly allowed and can be considered piracy. Their are some tools for this available on github that can save songs as mp3. Then you can play them in any audio player you like. If you want to know the name of one of those tools just send me a DM.

To add to that. With ZFS raid everything is done with software so their is no hardware lockin.

I looked at headscale but as far as I can tell their is no active directory or SSO integration. Which is very unfortunate.

If you are afraid of being ddosed which is very unlikely. Cloudflare has free ddos protection. You can put some but not all things behind their proxy.

Also instead of making things publicly available look in to using a VPN. Wireguard with “wireguard easy” makes this very simple.

VLANs do not make you network magically more secure. But when setup correctly can increase security a load if something has already penetrated the network. But also just to streamline a network and allow or deny some parts of the network.
