As someone who used to, although with gay not trans people, I believed that gay people were sexual deviants and that society accepting them would then go on to accept paedos, and that accepting deviancy was the problem that should be stopped.
Contrary to what others have posted I didn’t conflate gay people with paedos, or label the two groups as equivalent, except in that I thought they were both deviant.
More to the point if “addicted to alcohol” is alcoholic, why isn’t “addicted to work” workic?
Oh, I can do project management too!
Your next task is waves hands around … the thing … waves hands around some more … like the other thing … but different.
“Which server do I join?” seems to be a sticking point for a lot of people.
The “Browse servers” page does say at the top “You can access all content in the lemmyverse from any server, so it doesn’t matter which one you choose”, but on showing this page you immediately scroll that message off the screen. Maybe if you kept that bit visible it would help.
Also I think comparing it with email servers might be helpful. People already know they can email anyone from any email server, and that signing up to, say, Posteo, doesn’t mean you can only email other Posteo users.
These days with everything being LGBTQIAOMGWTFBBQ++++++++, no, not even remotely.
Inasmuch as we can, yeah. None of our planning so far has allowed for the possibility of Moronica turning into a loose cannon and going around threatening all its friends and allies. As with Ukraine, if Moronica decides you’re fucked, you’re fucked, and there’s not a whole lot we can do about it.
But sometimes you have to pick the least worst option. Or did they genuinely believe Harris would be worse?
You haven’t said which government so I’ll assume you mean the American one.
There are plenty of people with both means and influence. The problem is that they just got voted out, and there aren’t enough Republicans that are moderate enough to start voting against Trump.
Yet.
And that’s the key thing. As Trump gets more and more trumpy, the more moderate Republicans will start getting hacked off with it all and will start voting against their party, or at the very least abstaining. IIRC the Rep majority is 3, so there need to be 4 Rep abstentions to get a united Dem opposition over the line.
The problem is that doing so is likely to end their political career. So there needs to be some really good mileage in them voting with the Democrats.
As the Republicans hold a majority and all of them are currently with Trump, whatever Trump says goes. Even if all Dems say no, that isn’t a majority no until they start getting some objections from the Reps.
So ultimately the power lies with the voters. If the Reps won’t vote in the country’s interests then the country needs to start voting in the country’s interests. Trump said what he was going to do, and the whole point of Trump is that he isn’t the usual lying politician that says whatever it takes to get into power then does whatever they want anyway. So “I didn’t think he meant it” isn’t going to fly when Trump does what Trump said he would. (Although obviously he didn’t end putin’s war on day 1, so the list of Trump’s broken promises is already not empty.)
There were plenty of non-voting voters who could have made the Reps a tiny minority. But for some reason they couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Harris, so they opted out. Personally I’m surprised she couldn’t win simply on “I’m not Trump”.
For the next four years I also propose renaming en_us to an-us.
The United States of Moronica

Have you tried Ctrl-Tabbing through all open tabs, to load them all in? It’s be interesting to see how much memory it uses then.
5G for HermitCraft S9, 10G for Enigmatica 6 Expert (looking at Working Set in Resource Monitor). I’ve rebuilt impulseSV’s iBuy as an autocrafting tower in my E6E world, and I needed more detail than I could glean from the videos.
Firefox is a bit more tricky to work out because it’s split over multiple processes but if I kill it while watching Resource Monitor the Available Memory jumps by about 9G, with 56 tabs open.

I don’t think it was aimed at the elect though, just rich people in general. Although any rich believers would have been wise to pay attention to the message.
Have you ever had Windows break so badly that you had to burn an install disk…
As a programmer, yes under Windows 3.0 I could crash the computer so hard that the only way to recover was to reformat the hard disk. It got progressively better in later versions and everything from Windows 2000 has been virtually uncrashable.
My most recent hard crash was when I had a VM, two Minecraft instances and Firefox all open at the same time and Windows ran out of memory (so I upgraded from 32GB to 64GB). It does make me wonder why some of that didn’t get swapped out though.
It helps to understand what is being communicated here. It’s not a genuine request for your health status, it’s a friendly greeting. The last thing anyone wants in response to “how are you” is a list of everything that’s wrong with you. If you struggle to cope with replying “fine” or equivalent, refuse to answer the question and respond instead with something like “hi/hello!”. The non-sequitur will jar them for a moment and hopefully they’ll learn not to ask dumb questions.
Speaking as a developer myself, it’s likely not the devs’ fault that Teams is as shit as it is. They are all intimately familiar with its shortcomings and are perfectly able and willing to fix them, but are prevented from doing so by management who insist that shovelling crapware down their customers’ throats is far more important.
Well that’s OK. It’s not uncommon for different countries to name bits of land and water differently from everyone else. Take Germany for example. The locals call it Deutschland. The French call it Allemagne. Or there are the Falklands, known by the argybargies as Las Malvinas. If Donny McFart in North Mexico wants to call that bit of water the Freedom Gulf or whatever then good for him! As long as he realises it works both ways.
So tempting to name a country that rhymes with Erika. But I won’t.
I don’t remember how many hours I sank into that game on my Amiga. Loved it.
They’re taking the Russkies to Donaldgard gard gard g-gard!
