1 day agoYes that would be amazing and a great stimulant for EU companies to start developing a competing platform of it’s own (we have BeReal, Dailymotion, Medal and Dumpert, but they aren’t very big AFAIK)

They are not only pulling data from all the x sites in the list, also pulling something else in the meantime
Forget about just the web. Modern tech is about to become unusable due to ads.
21·23 days agoA parent can flag an account of their children, that the child has to accept. They would of course do this together sitting next to each other, so the child has no choice but to accept. Then, the parent can control the content the child sees.
Honestly age verification other than ID checks will never work. But to send your ID to the owner of an instance is of a whole other level, that the people who join / have joined and even the instance owners are probably unwilling to accept. And they wouln’t be wrong for that.

Isn’t it wise to do some sort of age check before someone can access the adult subs? If this becomes a trend among teenagers, I can already see parents halting that just because of easy adult access. Pixelfed for instance has parental controls.

In all seriousness: I truly believe it would not hurt to put everyone through some sort of basic training, including gun handling.
I did try to federate my blog to Mastodon. Haven’t made a post in a long time though, so I can’t tell if it works or not.
I do believe the type of people and lack of the karma system also makes it better. People do anything to get some karma.

No matter how much I hate Mozilla’s new path, companies like this challenging big tech are bold and have a lot of courage. If I set aside my personal op opinions about Mozilla, I actually admire them for this. They can actually dent big tech with funding from big tech itself.
