Hello there!

Daily backups here. Storage is cheap. Losing data is not.
Engineer probably wanted to work on the Dispair Pit.
I broadly agree with the message in this comic but… Isn’t the 664 billionaires thing a bit misleading? It ignores all the inflation and population growth that has happened in the past 30 years.
teens mainly use AI for therapeutic needs and emotional support.
How dare they do what they can to fulfill needs that society isn’t fulfilling for them.
Even disregarding the native Linux port… The Steam client is actually pretty decent. Any client would have to implement things like library navigation, storage management, Steam input support, the overlay, cloud sync and so on. And honestly, I don’t think anyone can reach the amount of features that Steam has.
Its probably why most people don’t actually use things like Lutris or Gnome Games to launch Steam games.
Darn kids and their mobile telephones!
That aside, uh, people are still people on the other end of the phone. They aren’t like, unloaded when you get too far away from them.
It’s actually harder to detect that. The *
is expanded before the arguments are sent to rm
, so it just sees a list of directories like /bin /usr /dev /sbin /home
and so on.
You could implement logic to detect that case, but at that point you’re just playing whackamole.
Hey, you should be careful around Ubuntu fans. They might just snap.
Firstly, if you’re worried about this, speak to whoever is running the sessions. I could speculate as to what works and what doesn’t, but if you are in contact with a trained person who has seen you many times now, they can probably give you better advice than internet strangers.
I see a counsellor, which I know isn’t the exact same thing, and I’ve definitely broken down and started crying in some sessions. And yes, it feels like shit. And yes, it hurts. I have a habit of retreating and hiding from stressors, and having to face them is rough.
However, anything you talk about is likely already in your head anyway. Taking about it lets it out in a safe way, because otherwise it just kinda builds up and festers… Which is even worse.
If you are neurodivergent though, it might be worth looking for a specialist that handles adhd therapy. I know at least for autism, regular cbt doesn’t work. Don’t know if that’s the same for adhd and whatever therapy you’re doing.
I’m of the opinion that a lot of the “problems” with autism come from societal issues and lack of education rather than an innate thing.
Everyone has problems they need to work through. It’s just that autistic people don’t get the support they need.
… It really is a shame that they still make it seem that being autistic is a problem…
If they found that it increases your chances of being gay or something, I’m sure their language would be much more respectful (if they published it at all).
In his defense, it isn’t really a fishing game without bait.
Maybe! I don’t know if “gendered violence against men” also has the same connotations.
Maybe this is indeed is a case of those people poisoning the term.
“Gendered violence against females” on the other hand sounds a bit too clinical though… Like you’re removing their personhood
Finally, representation for gay people who are into irony.
If that train stops suddenly, they’re a gonner.
… You know you can just create a community and post stuff there, right?
Thank you! Could this be permanent? People can use an AskLemmyPolitics community if they really need to.
Compared to other platforms, they have a lot of good features and generally act in the public interest.
In regards to their DRM system, honestly some people are going to add DRM to their games no matter what. I’d much rather they use Valve’s system than some insecure third party spyware.
People have also mentioned their 30% cut which honestly seems pretty normal for an online storefront. It’s especially fair when you consider the fact that they provide marketing, hosting and payment processing for you. Not to mention things like achievements, matchmaking and workshop support if you want it.
There’s also the fact that a lot of the anti-monopoly folks tend to be Linux and/or foss advocates, and Valve has been pumping a lot of resources into open source projects.
Honestly, in the Linux space, the only reason Valve has a monopoly is because the other players just aren’t making any effort to compete.
Tl;dr Valve uses their market position for good (in general) and Steam is a good product.
