I am at this point fully convinced it will never come out, and if it does, it will be a hollow shell of what people want it to be.

So long as they are comfortable with me never buying them.
I'm excited for what comes out in a year or two. Maybe a Steam Box 2.0 with console-like qualities but tinker-friendly? A hardware refreshed Deck? Anti-cheat compatibility with more games?
The logic over at Xbox might be that Xbox games already come to PC, and their OEM partners are already shipping devices. Unfortunately the fact is that the problem is Windows itself. The thumb controls on them sucks to use in Windows. Go try an Ally or a Legion. As soon as you leave Armor Crate or Steam Big Picture the experience falls apart. Windows also insists on doing Windows things like updating and rebooting when it feels like it, and on a few occasions I've been kicked out of big picture mode because something stole focus.
Just like I don’t need to be a ship captain to tell when the titanic is sinking. It doesn’t matter how it’s made, a product is bad if your model audience doesn’t like it. Starfield isn’t some avant-gard experimental piece, it was meant to appeal to the masses. He can’t use the excuse of opinionated craftsmanship to excuse its poor quality.
Two big reasons for me are: pleasant desktop experience, and no upselling/ads shoved in my face. If the Ally or Legion could just run SteamOS…
I’ve literally taken to pasting the articles into GPT and asking it to summarize the articles. I imagine they will be the next causality in the coming AI wars.
It took them so long I don’t even have a switch anymore 😂
Frankly Starfield didn't even deserve the nomination. It didn't do anything unique or deserving of merit beyond just existing. I tried it, and while it has some interesting parts it's just shallow and bland. The lore had huge potential but got Swiss-cheesed by the game mechanics and wasn't developed at all - in what was supposed to be a Bethesda RPG. They need to yeet Todd and bring back the Obsidian folks.
For what it is worth, I’ve had a few games that weren’t officially supported so I just turned on the Proton setting and it’s worked so far. Online multiplayer seems to be a sticking point though due to anti-cheat.
Way nicer from I’ve been told. I am fortunate that literally every game, including some obscure one from freaking 1998 just works. Some Reddit posts from years past hint it definitely had teething issues at first. Early adopter tax I guess.
A friend has been bugging me to play it but I don’t want to get too invested if it’s going to break every other weekend.
Is Apex supported on Linux by the developer or is it maintained by Valve?
Sure but at least Discord actually works. Teams has always been a buggy mess any time I have had to use it. Furthermore, Discord doesn’t shove itself into every opportunity in an effort to remind me of its existence.
The best solution is to use a service like mailgun. It takes a long time to establish reputation so you can avoid the spam filters.
Additionally, as a high level emulator Yuzu sacrifices some accuracy for speed. It’s possible that this allows it to also be faster than the official implementation.
