In Australia they tried this on with iiNet who told them to get stuffed.
They were taken to court and iiNet won. The appeal was dismissed by the Full Federal Court. Then it was dismissed again in the High Court

I think my point got lost in this and I’m to blame for not articulating myself, I apologise.
I was (poorly) trying to point out that there are enough minorities in the population who are currently being persecuted who either voted for this administration, or didn’t vote at all.
The overall margin between the candidates was only 0.15%.
I asked because, that 13% combined with those who didn’t vote at all might have been the difference between being persecuted or not by the current administration.
Note that this isn’t limited to this community, it’s any community who voted for a candidate who openly and in public stated repeatedly what he was going to do.
Now it’s happening like a minute to minute reality TV show and it’s affecting the whole planet.
Now that it’s free, are its users the product?
So, three more years of #turtlepower?
How many voted for the Orange and how many didn’t bother to vote at all?
A hosting provider always has the ability to change what’s on their infrastructure. The Kindle store is no different.
As it happens, they’ve been doing this for years. For example, the price you set as an author is not fixed nor is how it turns up on the page or how and when it’s promoted.
The standard ebook format is essentially a zipped up series of text files.

Sleep … I cannot remember the last time I had eight hours uninterrupted. Last night I managed 5.5 hours in three shifts. That was an improvement on the night before.
After a while you have seen it all and it takes extra energy to find the funny. Finding the funny is harder when you sleep poorly and your body ages.
That said, finding the funny is absolutely worth every effort, it’s just that sometimes it’s hard work.

Some Lemmy clients can show you an aggregate total vote, so you don’t see that one downvote.
It’s something that an instance owner has visibility of.
I don’t know if discovering who does this will help, since I don’t believe that blocking that account by you will stop their voting behaviour.
It’s something that appears to be pretty common.
I suspect that there are people who believe that every post should start at zero and have bots running to make it so.
You could start your own instance if you had the energy to go head to head with this, but I wouldn’t bother.
Voting is really just a way to indicate how far off the reservation a post has strayed.
Talk to your doctor.
In Australia there’s a free government helpline that connects you to a registered nurse who will triage and direct as needed.
At one time I received an unexpected email from a shipping company that turned out to be legitimate, despite it having several red flags and being marked as spam by my email provider.
The point being, investigate and confirm before either condemning a message to the bitbucket or paying.
For example, if I received such a message, it would be ignored because I’ve not been near a toll road for well over a decade, but that might not be the case for every recipient, some of whom might not have paid their bill.
It’s that edge case that scammers are targeting.
The post provided little or no context and the replies were not conducive to meaningful dialogue.
Reporting the incident to police would be an alternative approach to addressing the root cause of the issue.
Writing posts on social media is likely to be misunderstood, ignored, trolled or actively attacked, none of which will address the incident or the fallout from it.
I also note that there are victim support groups that might be of assistance.
